I don't know what to say, but, that he came with a bunch of his crew, the most sickly among them. His captain was a feral miss that wandered in with a bad attitude at a time when I was lost at sea, but, never really alone. When his lot came, I aided them and gave them a place to call home. For four years and maybe eleven months he was one of my companions, perhaps the most important one of them, not that any of them could be unwoven from the tapestry of my life with no consequence.
He'd wake me up at the most inconvenient time every day without fail wanting me to feed him, and, I'd try to go back to sleep and make him wait, because if he didn't wait, he would only come back earlier in the evening endlessly wanting to eat. I used to feed him three times a day until that terrible day he came home only to lay in the basement and cry. His right hip joint broken beyond repair as I found out later from the vet after an x-ray I had them do.
He stuck around another couple of years after that, but, for some unknown reason left without returning earlier this month on the 13th. I doubt if he left willingly. Perhaps hit by a car, perhaps killed fighting a racoon. For an unknown reason I decided to take a picture of him lying on top of me as he did so many times before.
So, the best friend ever, and, this was pretty much the last time I saw him. Good bye my friend.

Wow!!! Just got a pyscho burst of energy and elevated thought processes. Two slices. Easy peasy, just like Pi. It is called transcatheter aortic valve replacement. The slices were not figurative. Pain free surgery, well at least for me and for the last 3 surgical procedures. I don't have a clinical eval at present, but, the amount of blood my heart was capable of pumping was reduced from optimal. Somewhere like 30 to 35 percent efficacy. Now, I've got a new one, and, a little further information from my amazing NP as to what "weak heart" means. In my case it even involved knowledge I already had via my daughter's congestive heart failure at 6 days old. Reduced contractility. Means your muscle can't squeeze much. Those muscles remain in a state of semi rigor, incapable of relaxing in order to allow heart chambers to completely fill with blood for heart's next push. Guess what? Aortic valves were probably the model for the Tri Pods novel and tv series protagonists. They are 3 flaps

I met my new surgeon today and I'll be getting robot assisted laparoscopy in a real operating room rather than a back alley butcher job by a guy handing out fresh forms for just who and how I can have my plug pulled if it comes up. That's a relief.
My surgeon may not be my surgeon.
It seems that when your time is so money and you can't properly communicate with your patients, you send out a mailing. I got my mailing from potential surgeon #1 and he is so slick that he added MAC to my "office" surgery. That is monitored anesthesia control, which means being "under" sedation during the operation, not merely under local anesthetic. He also hit me with a bill unexpectedly since my insurance covers everything. Everything they'll let me do anyway. It doesn't cover an angiogram or anything truly revealing in that regard. If you're not aware, an angiogram actually maps any plaque deposits in your circulatory system, but, my insurance, good as it is, will only cover lipid levels and anti cholesterol meds which is just one more obeisance to big pharma. So, I called my insurance adjustor and he straightened out my potential surgeon about what he can or can't bill for. I'm waiting for an EKG on Thursday to allow my cardiologist to access just how improved or not my heart
Once more under the knife my friends.
Currently awaiting a nasty lil' operation to be undergone under local anesthetics. Apparently I'll be cut open and partially inflated for viewing purposes before a bit or so of me gets stuffed back under my abs and the abs blocked from those bits being able to get back out with mesh. Mesh but no lace and no one to melt with. Love Modern English!

I'm so sorry for your loss. Pets are as much our family as humans are. I feel for you. It gets easier, but your heart will always miss him <3
